Bessie Kirkham

"Existence in its simplest form can often be the most dissociative and confusing to navigate which, intentionally/unintentionally, can appear through the work".

Bessie's work focuses around the experience of the mundane and the surreality of the everyday.  There’s often a stillness in the finished pieces as a way in which to bring a sense of calm to this unknown navigation. Bessie works from photographs taken sporadically and tend to work on found materials, which are both elements of the serendipitous nature of the process.

Her Paintings are often left as ‘unfinished’ to retain some sense of ‘life-force’ in their existence.
