Petra WILLIAMS
Born in Dublin, Ireland, Williams lives and works in London.
She pursued art studies in both London and France.
The vulnerability of the body, the interrelationships between figures and personal narratives are central to my practice. I want the viewer to feel a direct apprehension of the visceral physicality of the body and for its unconscious psychology to be communicated as directly as possible.I attempt to fuse the form of the body with the actual substance of paint. I harness a largely male tradition of gestural painting and reinterpret it from a woman’s perspective.
Williams has exhibited extensibly in Ireland, France and the United Kingdom.
She has exhibited with TART Gallery London
at Fitzrovia Gallery. 2022
